FAQ’s

Q. how long does an adoption take and what are the typical costs?

A. Every adoption is different. No 2 international or domestic adoptions will be the same. There are so many factors that determine the length of time it takes to adopt a child. For an international adoption, you are working with an adoption agency and 2 different governments. There are a lot of surprises with foreign country’s requirements. For domestic adoptions, the overall wait might be shorter, but again, there are many factors that work to determine the length of time it takes to bring your child home.

Q. Are my donated funds tax-deductible?

A. Yes! The Anna Cheri Foundation is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) corporation in the State of Texas. All donations are tax-deductible.

Q. how often does your organization give grants?

A. We recognize that the adoption process is extremely fluid AND different for everyone. The Anna Cheri Foundation accepts applications 2 times per year, with deadlines for submission of June 30 and December 31 (all required documentation must be received to be considered). Shortly after these deadlines, we will determine the awardees and notify them directly.

Q. how does your organization determine what amount to give and how is the grant given?

A. The Anna Cheri Foundation Board of Directors looks at a variety of factors when determining what amount to award a family. These factors include, but are not limited to, whether there is an approved home study, how much is owed at time of application, annual family income (need), and a variety of other factors.

All grant awards are paid directly to the family’s adoption agency.

Q. what is your organization’s goals as far as making an impact on the global orphan crisis?

A. The global orphan crisis is unfathomable! The sheer number of children around the world that do not have families is hard to comprehend. Our goal is simple - we want to help as many families as possible, adopt as many children as possible. We are not biased towards any form of adoption. If a family wants to adopt a child from the U.S., then we will do what we can to help that family. If a family wants to adopt a child from any other country in the world, we will do our best to help that family.

There are many families that have a desire for adoption , but due to the high cost, they just cannot afford it. It’s not their fault that it costs so much so why should they (and the child) be penalized. This is where the Anna Cheri Foundation steps in to bridge the funding gap that so many families face.

Q. how can i get involved?

A. There are a variety of ways to get involved.

GIVING - your financial gift allows the grant program to keep going. The more money we raise, the more families we can help. The more families we can help, the more children get adopted and find their forever family. In addition, many corporations have a MATCHING FUND program where your donation to the Anna Cheri Foundation, through your company, can be matched by your company 2 to 3 times the amount you give. We encourage you to check with your employer to find our more about whether is something they offer.

CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP - Corporate sponsorships are vital to the success of our many fundraising events.

VOLUNTEERING - we have a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. These events raise significant dollars for our grant program. We cannot conduct these events without amazing volunteers to help.

ADOPTION AMBASSADOR - our vision is to have Adoption Ambassadors in every major U.S. city within the next 5 years. As an Adoption Ambassador, you will help the Anna Cheri Foundation have a national presence by gaining new donors and coordinating fundraising efforts in those geographic regions.

PRAYER - Prayer is a key to the success of the Anna Cheri Foundation. Without God’s guidance, we could not do what we do. Regardless of your religious affiliation, please join us in praying for all of the orphaned children around the world, the many families who are looking to adopt children, and our foundation as we continue to make an impact on the global orphan crisis.

Q. how are donated funds used within your organization.

A. We treat our donors and their corresponding donations with the utmost integrity. 80% of all funds donated go directly to the adoption grant program. Because we are a growing non-profit organization, 20% of all funds donated go to the administrative costs of running the program.
