Adoption Grant Application

In addition to the application, please submit the following required documents directly to the Anna Cheri Foundation at annacherifoundation@gmail.com by the deadline dates of June 30 or December 31.

 

1. A letter from your adoption agency stating where you currently are in the adoption process.   

2. Tax returns: previous 2 years (first two pages)

3. A copy of your current Home Study

4. Two (2) Letters of References (pastor and family friend)

5. Picture of your family

Scholarship selections and amounts will vary based on availability of funds.  If you are not selected, you may re-apply. If you are selected, we will notify you by email and will transfer funds to your adoption agency in your name.

 * Please read this carefully before submitting your application. By submitting, you are agreeing to the following: Grants are for the sole and express purpose of reimbursing Qualified Adoption Expenses to the parents of adopted children. A representative from The Anna Cheri Foundation will follow up with any and all grant applicants to verify references, as well as all information provided by the applicants during the application process. Qualified Adoption Expenses are those reasonable and necessary adoption fees, court costs, attorneys’ fees, and other expenses that:

·       Are directly related to, and the principal purpose of which is, the legal adoption of an eligible child;

·       Are not incurred in violation of state or federal law or in carrying out any surrogate parenting arrangement;

·       Are not expenses in connection with the adoption of a child who is the child of a grantee’s spouse (step-parent adoption)
;

An “Eligible Child” means an individual who has not attained age 18, or who is over the age of 18 but is physically or mentally incapable of caring for him or herself. 


Submitting the application means that Grantees officially acknowledge the following:


·       All Qualified Adoption Expenses reported by Grantees are truthful and have been incurred or are reasonably expected to be incurred. All other expenses in excess of the grant amount awarded are the sole and exclusive responsibility of the Grantees.

·       Grantees in turn grant The Anna Cheri Foundation the right to use their names, likenesses, and non-confidential factual details of Grantees’ adoption for the purpose of promoting the charitable services of The Anna Cheri Foundation across all media platforms, including doing a photography/video shoot to share their story. This includes but is not limited to: social media, donor letters, cards, the Anna Cheri Foundation website, brochures, posters, banners, email, newsletter, videography, fundraising collateral and event collateral.

·       The Anna Cheri Foundation does NOT provide any legal services or answer any legal questions regarding the adoption of a child.  The sole purpose of the foundation is to aid families by providing grants in the form of funds to qualified and selected applicants to help with Qualified Adoption Expenses as defined above.

·       The Anna Cheri Foundation does not assist in the adoption process of any child in any way other than to offer grants to qualified applicants, and to share information about the personal adoption stories of the Foundation founders and other families who have volunteered to share their personal adoption experiences. Any information provided to an applicant about another families’ personal adoption story is not intended to be expert advice about any part of the adoption process.

·       The Anna Cheri Foundation offers grants/scholarships based on certain criteria and grant money that is available within the organization; therefore, while all applications will be reviewed and carefully considered, not all applicants will be selected.

·       You do not have the right to disagree with or challenge in any way, any amount of any grant that may be awarded by The Anna Cheri Foundation.
